Bitcoin has increased in price from less than penny ($0.003 in 2010) to $110,000 today in 2025.
Bitcoin is up 18% in 2025 and was up as much as 31% last month.
Buying into Bitcoin early in 2017 would have been at prices below $1000 and there would have been over 100X returns.
Late 2013 to early 2017 was when it was $300 to $1000.
The biggest moving years were 2010, 2011, 2013 and 2017. 2012, 2016, 2020 and 2023 were also very good years.
Buying into bitcoin in 2012 was in the range of $10 and you would be up 10,000 times by holding to today.
Bitcoin bears do not have much to brag about against Bitcoin bulls and bitcoin believers. It has been 15 years and the predicted complete ruin for bitcoin has not happened. There have been huge crashes in 2014, 2018 and 2022. Bitcoin has been up in 13 out of 16 years.
Some review bitcoin price predictions as being wrong. But the size of the moves are huge. If the predictors gave a price prediction range they would have been amazingly accurate.
John McAfee predicted in November 2017 that bitcoin will hit $1 million by 2020.
McAfee said bitcoin would hit $500,000 by 2020 earlier in 2017 when bitcoin was between $1000-3000. Bitcoin reached a peak of $28000 in 2020 and now has reached $110,000.
Bitcoin still went up 20-30 times from early 2017 to 2020 peak and 100 times to the peak today in 2025.
Tim Draper in 2018 (when bitcoin was between $3000-13000) said BTC will reach $250K by 2022.
The interim peak was bitcoin hit $47000 in 2021 and 2022. This was an average of times higher from where he was calling it and did not get 50 times higher. We are now getting to almost half of the level he thought we could reach.
PlanB in 2019 said BTC will follow a model to reach $100K+ post-2020. This is a totally accurate call. We are now over $100,000. In 2019 the price of bitcoin was $4000-9000. Calling for a 10-20X move was correct. It was very close to happening by 2024. In 2021 and 2022, bitcoin was about half of the price they predicted and was about 5-10 times higher.
